This article will demonstrate the steps necessary to connect to UFA Virtual Machines hosted in the Azure cloud, from a laptop running Windows 10.
You may need to first disable your VPN. This will appear as an icon in the lower right corner app tray on Windows 10 machines. Right click, then "disable" or "disconnect".
Step 1
Go to the Windows Start Menu in the lower left corner, start typing "RDP" to search for the Remote Desktop Tool. Click to open.
Step 2
Expand the "show options" dropdown
In the "Computer" field enter the address of the Cloud VM provided by UFA (for ex: xxxxx.eastus.cloudapp.azure.com).
In the "User Name" field enter the user name for the machine provided by UFA (for ex. editor-xxxx)
Step 3 (optional, recommended)
To connect the local drive on your laptop, so you can transfer files easily between your laptop
and the virtual machine, navigate to the "Local resources" tab,
and click "more" under local devices.
Expand "drives" and select the hard drives you wish to share with the remote session (most often you would want to share your (C:) drive).
Check off the box to share access to that drive with the virtual machine.
Step 4
Click "Connect" to connect to the remote virtual machine. A dialogue box may pop up asking if you trust the virtual machine and would like to continue to connect to it, select "Yes".
Another dialogue box will pop up asking for the password (this will be provided by UFA separately). Enter the password.
A separate window will open with the cloud hosted virtual machine.
