I clicked on “Course Name” but the course I’m looking for isn’t there. How do I find it?
Courses are located in the <atspeak_editor_version>atspeak/exercises folder on your computer. Check that folder to ensure the course is contained within it.
How do I make a new course?
In the editor, choose "click to load course", then type in the name of the course you want to build, and click "ok".
How can I add a new exercise to a course?
In the editor, choose "click to load course", select the appropriate course in the drop down menu, click "ok." Under the list of exercises, type the name of your new exercise in the "create new exercise" window, then click on the green + icon. Fill out the appropriate information on the four tabs (settings, default, voice, categories) and then click on the floppy disc icon on the top right to save the exercise.
Can I use an exercise in more than one course?
Yes. When assigning exercises to a course in ATPortal, simply select the exercise(s) from the "exercise list."
How can I use tasks from the task pool to add to my exercise?
Choose your exercise, click on "edit tasks," then tap the green "+" to add a new task. Choose "add from pool" then using the task manager filter, choose the type of tasks you want and finally click on "insert in exercise" at the bottom left of the wizard.
How can I allow my exercise to shuffle some tasks?
Choose or build your exercise and on the "settings" tab, select "Optional or Always" under " Exercise Shuffling." Note: linked tasks will remain linked.
What does the “Use as Prac-Pool” check box do?
It puts that exercise into it's own place in ATPortal that is a source for practice pool items only. Practice pool exercises are not graded, and will not show up in the list of normal exercises. Instead, it will show up on ATPortal admin under "Exercises" -> "Practice Pools". When running exercises on the student side of ATPortal, all Practice Pools will show up with "Practice Sessions" clearly marked to the right of the exercise name.
How can I adjust the TTS delay?
Use the "Prompt after start" to define the time (seconds) for TTS delay.
Is there a way to only allow a task to display for a certain amount of time?
Use the "timer enabled" button when building the situation task to overwrite any default time limit set for tasks in the "defaults" tab for the exercise.
Can I have a default background for all tasks types?
No, unfortunately at this time only Clearance type tasks can have a default background.
How can I add my exercise tasks to the task pool?
Choose "Task Pool" on the top menu bar and choose "add to" to add tasks to the pool.
Why can’t I find the grammar base I need in the voice tab?
The grammar file may not have been loaded in your ATSpeak Editor. You can check by navigating to the ATSpeak Editor folder on your computer's hard drive. Click on the "ATSpeak" folder, then "grammar" folder and look to see if there is a folder with the grammar name you are looking for. If not, you will need to add it. If the folder with the grammar name is there, contact UFA through our help desk for more information.
How can I add a grammar to ATSpeak Editor?
If UFA has provided you a new grammar file (will be a .tar.gz zip file), simply click on "ATSpeak Editor" in the top left of the toolbar, then "Install Grammar Package...". This will open up a window to navigate to the package on your computer. Select the correct package and click "ok". If you need help, contact UFA via our help desk.
Is there a limit to the number of groups or tags?
There is no limit to the number of groups or tags available in a course. However, exercise creation only allows 1 tag from each group to be assigned per task/slide.
Can I pick more than one tag for an exercise?
You may assign multiple tags for an exercise, however, the limit is 1 tag/group per slide.
Can I adjust my tags as I’m making tasks?
No. To adjust tags, you must return to exercise settings page, make tag edits, save the exercise, then edit tasks. Tag edits will be available.
How can I lock an exercise based on score or required order?
On Settings tab of Exercise Settings screen, enter required minimum score, then check the check box next to Exercise Locked. Save the exercise.
How can I delete an exercise from ATSpeak Editor?
Select the appropriate exercise and select the red X icon on the bottom of the screen.
How do I export the Course from ATSpeak Editor to ATPortal?
Select Course - Export Course to Cloud from ATSpeak Editor toolbar. Enter Server information, Username and password. Select Remember Password radio button, if desired. Select Upload. Upload operation begins. Upon completion, select Close. Course is uploaded to ATPortal. Exercises with the same name will be overwritten.
I exported my course to my computer but got two different files. Which one do I use to upload into ATPortal?
To upload course to ATPortal, you will use the .zip file and upload using Upload Exercises function in ATPortal.
Can I export just an exercise and not a whole course?
To export a single exercise, select Exercise for export in Exercise list. Select Exercise - Export Package on ATSpeak Editor toolbar. Select a memorable export location on local workstation. Navigate to your file, select .zip file and using Upload Exercises function in ATPortal, upload individual Exercise.
How can I import an exercise to adjust in ATSpeak Editor?
To import Exercise, load desired Course to import Exercise into. Select Course - Import Exercise in ATSpeak Editor toolbar. Navigate to workstation location of Exercise .xml (or package: .tar.gz) file. Select desired Exercise and press Import. Exercise is imported into selected Course.
